Abide in Christ
John 15:5

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5 NASB

A disciple is to abide in Christ, to remain in Him, to consistently and continually live and dwell in Him. A disciple draws his life, his very existence, strength, and nourishment from Christ. Jesus is the vine, and the branches that grow from the vine are His disciples. As a branch develops, it demonstrates the same character as the vine. As a disciple grows and develops, he is to demonstrate the character and characteristics of Jesus. A disciple abiding in Christ becomes more and more like Christ.

Lord Jesus, teach me how to abide in You. I yearn to be more like You, to live a life of obediently following You, demonstrating Your mercy, grace, and love.
