Character Traits: Patience
Galatians 5:22-23

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23 NASB

Patience is to be long-suffering, not being easily offended by others or by circumstances but enduring hardships and difficulties without complaining, criticizing, retaliating, or quitting. Patience is a calmness of spirit with forbearance and steadfastness even when severely provoked, afflicted, irritated, aggravated, or persecuted. God is often characterized as slow to anger as He patiently works and waits for His rebellious people to repent and return to Him and to follow His ways.

Lord Jesus, I am grateful for how patient You are with me. May I likewise be patient with others as I seek to share Your gospel and to honor and glorify You with my life.
