“The LORD protects the strangers; He supports the fatherless and the widow, But He thwarts the way of the wicked.” Psalm 146:9 NASB

Worshiping and praising the Lord, the psalmist continues describing God’s character as One who helps the helpless and perplexes the wicked. The Lord protects, supports, and shows compassion on the strangers and aliens in the land as well as the orphans and widows, for these are often destitute, defenseless, and oppressed. The Lord thwarts, frustrates, undermines, distorts, and diverts the plans of the wicked, bringing them to ruin. While man’s plans are fickle and fleeting, God is forever faithful to His character.

Lord Jesus, guide me to be more compassionate and righteous in my character and actions. You are my help and hope as I trust in Your protection and faithfulness.
