“Do not trust in nobles, in man, who cannot save. When his breath leaves him, he returns to the ground; on that day his plans die.” Psalm 146:3-4 HCSB

We often unwisely put our trust in nobles, princes, or powerful leaders to save us, to solve our problems, or to get us out of trouble. Powerful government leaders, wealthy business executives, or other influential people cannot provide the complete answers. The psalmist warns that God’s people must not place their complete trust in people, for they will die, be buried, and their plans, their influence, and their power will cease. God is our only salvation and is the only One worthy of our confidence and praise.

Lord Jesus, people fail, and life is so transient and fleeting. Yet my salvation, my help, my strength, my deliverance comes from You, my Redeemer and eternal King.
