“And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.” Matthew 6:13 NASB

The righteous person prays for God to protect and shield him from evil and temptation. Only through God’s strong and mighty power can the believer live in righteousness. It is God who gives the believer the strength to live in victory over sin, to live the pure and holy life, and to live in obedience to His commands. The righteous person ends his prayers with a doxology of praise that acknowledges God’s sovereignty, greatness, holiness, and eternal nature.

Lord Jesus, give me the strength this moment not to succumb to evil but to be obedient to Your commands. You are my Savior and my Lord, mighty in love, grace, and mercy.
