Following Him
Luke 9:23a
The Upward Look
by Max D. Hutto,
“And He was saying to them all, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.” Luke 9:23 NASB
Jesus issues a call to come after Him, to follow Him, to be His disciple. This call is not for one to have a superficial acquaintance, but instead to have an ongoing and growing personal relationship that embodies an absolute surrender to His Lordship. In MasterLife Avery Willis declares, “Christian discipleship is developing a personal, lifelong, obedient relationship with Jesus Christ in which He changes your character into Christlikeness, transforms your values into kingdom values, and involves you in His mission in the home, the church, and the world.”*
Lord Jesus, I yearn to follow You, to be completely surrendered to Your Lordship, and to honor and glorify You.
