“They took Jesus therefore, and He went out, bearing His own cross, to the place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha. There they crucified Him, and with Him two other men, one on either side, and Jesus in between.” John 19:17-18 NASB

After having been severely beaten, Jesus was placed on a wooden cross to die one of the most excruciating, painful, torturous deaths mankind has ever devised. Yet the physical pain represented only a small part of what He suffered on Calvary’s cross. Spiritually Jesus who knew no sin became sin for us. God’s wrath, for all our sin, was poured out on Him as He took our punishment. His amazing sacrifice created the only way for us to be reconciled with a holy and righteous God.

Lord Jesus, I am awestruck at Your sacrifice on the cross for me and for all who believe and trust in You. Because of You, I can live each day in a right relationship with God.
