“The word of the LORD came to him in the thirteenth year of the reign of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah, and through the reign . . . of Zedekiah . . . until the exile of Jerusalem in the fifth month.” Jeremiah 1:2-3 NIV

Jeremiah was a faithful prophet of the Lord for more than forty years during the reign of five different kings of Judah. Most of those years were tumultuous for the nation and ended with the destruction of the city and the temple and further with the people being taken captive and exiled. Yet through all this turmoil, Jeremiah remained faithful to the Lord. Even when threatened with death Jeremiah boldly spoke the word of God.

Lord Jesus, help me to remain faithful to You even when times are tough and other people ridicule and reject You. Give me boldness to speak and obey Your Word, the Bible.
