Walking in the Ways of the World
Ephesians 2:2a

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.” Ephesians 2:1-2 NASB

Paul describes life before salvation in Christ as being spiritually dead. Without Christ a person walks in the ways of the world. The word “walk” is used to describe one’s manner of life, one’s lifestyle, the overarching direction of one’s life. It describes one’s consistent pattern of daily thoughts, actions, and habits. In verses 2 and 3 Paul identifies three distinct forces that influence and drive a person’s worldly lifestyle.

Lord Jesus, while I formerly walked in my trespasses and sins, I desire to walk according to Your Word. Let my walk, my lifestyle, bring glory and honor to You.
