Sealed in Him
Ephesians 1:13b

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,” Ephesians 1:13 NASB

At the moment a person believes the gospel, placing their trust totally, completely, and solely on Jesus for their salvation and redemption, God the Holy Spirit seals them. A seal is used as a mark to indicate ownership and authenticity. That person, through faith in Christ, has been transformed into a genuine child of God and is under the lordship and command of God. A seal is also used as a mark of security. Though having only just begun, the Holy Spirit has sealed and secured the believer for all eternity.

Lord Jesus, I marvel at Your saving grace that has sealed me with the Holy Spirit. May I live in assurance and under the guidance and direction of Your Spirit.
