“Then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment.” 2 Peter 2:9 HCSB

Peter concludes his conditional statements, that showed God’s past punishment of the wicked and past protection of the godly, by stating the principle that God will rescue and deliver the righteous and will punish the unrighteous evil doers. No matter what the trial or temptation the godly face, their ultimate deliverance and salvation is found in God alone. The wicked however will certainly face punishment for their ungodly behavior. The day of judgment will come.

Lord Jesus, I need Your protection while living in this corrupt and lawless culture. Help me to live faithfully doing Your Word and to share its truth with others.
