“They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.” 2 Peter 2:13 NIV

Peter used a play on words to declare that the false teachers would receive their just punishment for the harm they were doing to the church. They would reap what they sowed. They flouted their sin in broad daylight by indulging in drinking and illicit sexual encounters. These hypocrites participated in the fellowship meals with the believers while their goal was to fulfill their own sensual pleasures. Today’s church continues to be plagued with those who play at being religious yet are consumed with seeking their own pleasure.

Lord Jesus, I truly desire to follow You. Help me to turn away from all wrong and to be obedient to Your Word.
