“And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.” 1 John 5:6b-8 NIV

The Holy Spirit of God gives testimony that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. The Spirit is truth, and thus He cannot lie. The “water” refers to Jesus’ baptism at the beginning of His public ministry. The “blood” refers to Jesus’ death on the cross at the end of His public ministry. The Mosaic law required evidence to be given by two or three witnesses. Fulfilling the law, these three, the Spirit, the water, and the blood, agree to this fact that Jesus is the Christ, the Savior, and the Lord.

Lord Jesus, I do believe that You are the Christ who came to redeem all who would trust in You. Help me to share this great truth with those in need.
