“Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God; and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him.” 1 John 5:1 NASB

The word “believe” is the verb form of the noun “faith.” To “believe” is to place one’s faith in something or someone. The word “Christ” is the Greek version of the Hebrew “Messiah” meaning “the Anointed One” and carries the idea of one who was consecrated and set apart for the specific work of redeeming God’s people from bondage. To believe that Jesus is the Christ is to totally place your faith and trust in Jesus to set you free from the bondage of sin. Thus, you are given a new life that is born of God. Because of this new life, you love God the Father and all His other children.

Lord Jesus, I place my faith in You alone as my Redeemer, my Savior. Help me to demonstrate my faith by loving others and telling them about You.
