“They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them.” 1 John 4:5 NIV

The false teachers get their thoughts and words not from God but from the world. The “world” is the culture and society they live in. Their viewpoint is not godly but worldly in nature. Since what they say comes from a worldly, secular viewpoint, others in the world think the same way they think. These worldly people listen to the false teachers agreeing with what they say. When you listen to a speaker or teacher, listen carefully to discern if they are speaking from God’s perspective or from the world’s perspective.

Lord Jesus, help me to evaluate what others say, comparing it to what the Bible says. Let what I say be directed by You and Your Word.
