"And when He saw the multitudes, He went up on the mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. And opening His mouth He began to teach them, saying,"
   Matthew 5:1-2 NASB ©

Jesus is about to preach what is commonly referred to as the Sermon on the Mount. Because people tend to learn better when truths are repeated a number of times, Jesus will repeatedly teach the content found in this sermon throughout His ministry. He will present moral principles relating to the character and conduct of a disciple in the kingdom of God. Jesus sits down on the side of a mountain with his disciples with the multitude gathering around Him. He is specifically talking to His disciples, those who have chosen to follow Him.

Lord Jesus, I have chosen to follow You. Help me to grasp the truths found in Your Word and apply them to my life.
