“Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are unreasonable.” 1 Peter 2:18 NASB

Peter continues the idea of submitting and showing respect for those in authority by stating that servants should submit to their masters. It did not matter if the master was considerate, kind, and upright, or if he was unreasonable, harsh, and dishonest in his dealings with the servant. The servant was to show respect for the master and to do the job he was assigned. In our day we can relate these thoughts to the employee-employer relationship. Whether the boss is easy to work for or is difficult and harsh in his dealings, the believing employee should show the boss respect.

Lord Jesus, help me to do the job I have been assigned, showing respect for those in authority over me. Help me to treat those who work for me with consideration.
