Long Life
Psalm 61:6

 
The Upward Look

"Thou wilt prolong the king's life; His years will be as many generations." Psalm 61:6 NASB

David prays for the king to have a long, and thus prosperous, life. This plea could be seen as a prayer for himself as a King of Israel, and, therefore, for all the people of the land who would be blessed because of his long life. David’s plea could also be seen as a prayer for the coming King of Kings, the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ. David knew that God would send the Messiah King to rule over God’s people.

Lord Jesus, I am thankful that You watch over Your people, providing an abundant and eternal life through faith in Jesus. I look forward to Your returning as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
