“And everyone who hears these words of Mine, and does not act upon them, will be like a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and burst against that house; and it fell, and great was its fall.” Matthew 7:26-27 NASB

Jesus continues the story by telling about those who hear but do not obey God’s Word. Many people hear the truths of the Bible, yet they choose not to act upon them. Jesus describes these people as those who build a house upon sand. Like the house that is swept away by high winds and flood waters, when the storms and troubles of life come, their lives fall to pieces. The only way to stand firm in the midst of the storms of life is to hear and obey God’s Word.

Lord Jesus, help me not to be foolish but wisely learning from the Bible how to live my life. Even in the midst of the storms, I stand firm on Your Word.
