“Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:10 NASB

Motivated by what is right in God’s sight, a believer does what is right and stands for the truth of God’s Word. When a disciple stands up for what is right in the face of opposition, he will be persecuted. The evil in this world does not want to be exposed as evil, nor does evil want righteousness to be proclaimed. The ungodly hate Jesus and will persecute those who follow Him. The eighth Beatitude describes a disciple as one who is persecuted for the sake of righteousness. The result of this persecution is that the disciple will receive the kingdom of heaven.

Lord Jesus, give me the strength to stand up for what is right no matter what others may say or do. I desire to live a holy and righteous life that brings glory and honor to You.
