“When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.” Matthew 1:24-25 NIV

Joseph demonstrated his righteous character by faithfully obeying what the Lord had commanded him to do. While the main emphasis of the Christmas story is the birth of the Savior, Jesus, Immanuel, God with us, a subplot of the Christmas story involving obedience should not be overlooked. Both Mary and Joseph were obedient to all that the Lord commanded them to do.

Lord Jesus, help me to be seen as having a godly and righteous character by being obedient to You. Teach me from Your Word, the Bible, how I am to live each day. Fill my life with Your love and grace that I may share the good news of the Savior.
