With his world crashing in around him, Joseph heard a startling message from the angel. This child, his wife-to-be was carrying, would save His people from their sins. What an amazing thought! This baby would provide the sacrifice needed to redeem sinful people. Even His name carries the important message of salvation. Jesus is the Greek form of the common Hebrew name “Joshua,” which literally means “Yahweh is salvation” or “the Lord saves.” Jesus would provide salvation for sinners by paying the price for sin by His death on the cross.

Lord Jesus, with the world crashing in around me, I too am amazed at Your great message of salvation. Help me to share Your great love with others during this season of the year.
