“And Jesus answered and said to them, ‘It is not those who are well who need a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.’” Luke 5:31-32 NASB

Those who are physically sick go to see a doctor. Those who are spiritually sin sick go to see Jesus. Jesus is known as a friend of sinners. He invites and calls sinners to repent which means to turn away from their sin. Sinners are called to turn from their sin and selfish desires and turn to Jesus. To turn to Jesus means to believe Him, to trust Him, to love Him, to follow Him, and to obey Him. It is only through Jesus that we find forgiveness of our sins and a new, abundant, and eternal life.

Lord Jesus, I am thankful to You, the Great Physician, for the forgiveness of my sins and for eternal life. Help me this day to live in that abundant life by doing what is right in Your sight.
