Enlightened
Ephesians 1:18a

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,” Ephesians 1:18 NASB

Struggling to understand God, His ways, and His Scripture using human intellect and discernment? We are not self-sufficient and cannot comprehend spiritual things in our human understanding which has been corrupted, perverted, and blinded by the sin that pervades our culture. Paul prayed that the Ephesians would be spiritually enlightened. This illumination and comprehension comes through the Holy Spirit’s enabling and revealing of spiritual truths from Scripture to one’s heart and soul and mind.

Lord Jesus, illumine my spiritual eyes to understand and apply Your Word, the Bible, in my daily life. As I follow You, guide me through Your Holy Spirit.
