The Need For Wisdom
Ephesians 1:17b

The Upward Look
    by Max D. Hutto,

“I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, would give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.” Ephesians 1:17 HCSB

Paul specifically asked God the Father to give the Ephesian believers insight and understanding in order to know Him. They needed an attitude and a desire to seek the things of God. They needed God to reveal these rich nuggets of wisdom and truth. They needed wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to apply this truth in their daily living. The purpose of wisdom and revelation was not intellectual or academic learning but that the believers would know God in a deep and intimate way.

Lord Jesus, give me wisdom as I read and study Your Word, the Bible. My earnest desire is to know You more and to live my life in a manner that brings You glory.
