“For by uttering boastful, empty words, they seduce, with fleshly desires and debauchery, people who have barely escaped from those who live in error.” 2 Peter 2:18 HCSB

False teachers prey on people who are just beginning to think about spiritual things or who have not gone beyond the very first steps of faith. They use words that sound pleasant to entice people to follow them and their wicked ways. They can “talk a great talk” but they don’t mean what they say. They will say anything to sway people to follow them into their sensual and fleshly desires.

Lord Jesus, many people are seeking to draw me away from following You and Your Word. Help me to stand firm against the schemes of the wicked and to wholly walk in Your ways.
