Chosen Lady

“The elder to the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in truth; and not only I, but also all who know the truth.”
   2 John 1 NASB ©

The apostle John is writing this letter and calls himself the “elder” which can mean an old man or an official title of a pastor. Both meanings fit John as he is both well up in age and a pastor, a leader of the church. He writes to the “chosen lady and her children.” Scholars have stated that this could refer to a specific woman and her children or to a church and its members. Either interpretation can make sense and does not change the meaning of the letter. John expresses his sincere love for his readers. All who know the truth about Jesus and believe in Him also love one another.

Lord Jesus, You are the way, the truth, and the life. Help me to love other believers even as You love them.
