“Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.” 1 Peter 5:9 NIV

The devil attacks like a roaring lion to devour believers. To withstand, resist, and overcome these attacks, believers must trust in God’s Mighty Hand. Our weapons of defense are the Word of God and prayer. Jesus gave us His example to follow when He used Scripture during His temptation and used prayer in the garden as He prepared for the cross. Paul also describes the weapons of spiritual warfare including prayer and the Word in Ephesians 6. As we face these spiritual battles, we can find comfort and strength in knowing that other believers face these same kinds of sufferings.

Lord Jesus, help me and all who believe in You to resist the evil opposition. No matter what trials, persecutions, and sufferings I may face today, help me to remain firm in faith as I trust in Your great power to sustain and protect me.
