“Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8 NASB

With urgency Peter exhorts believers, facing times of troubles, sufferings, and persecutions, to be serious and watchful. They were to be calm and sharp minded. Even when they cast all their concerns on the Lord, they were to be vigilant for the evil enemy lurks waiting to pounce. The adversary, accuser, and slanderer prowls around seeking to disrupt, discourage, debilitate, decimate, destroy, and devour the believers.

Lord Jesus, help me not to be intimidated by the roar of those opposed to You. Help me to be watchful and alert to evil attacks even as I trust in the protection, care, and guidance of Your Mighty Hand.
