“For the gospel has for this purpose been preached even to those who are dead, that though they are judged in the flesh as men, they may live in the spirit according to the will of God.” 1 Peter 4:6 NASB

Because of the coming judgment, the gospel is preached to all people. The gospel is the life-changing good news that Jesus suffered the punishment for the sins of all who would believe on Him. Jesus died so that those who trust in Him would have life, eternal and everlasting. Peter knew that the persecution the believers faced may lead to physical death, but they have spiritual life because of their faith in Jesus. Though their flesh or physical bodies have died, those who have trusted in Jesus live on in the spirit by the will of God.

Lord Jesus, I am thankful for the preaching of the gospel and for the life it brings. Help me to share this life-changing good news to those I meet today.
