“But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.” 1 Peter 4:13 NIV

Instead of being surprised, believers should rejoice when they are persecuted unjustly for the cause of Christ. This suffering brings joy because the believer is participating and sharing in the suffering and trials of Christ. Just as Jesus suffered unjust treatment, His followers will also suffer at the hands of evil. One day Jesus will return and His glory will be revealed. On that day His followers will be filled and overflowing with joy.

Lord Jesus, I long for the day when You return to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Until that day, help me to face the trials of life, being filled with Your love, peace, and joy.
