“For, ‘Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech. He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it.’” 1 Peter 3:10-11 NIV

Quoting from Psalm 34, Peter describes how those who were afflicted and faced turmoil could have happy days and enjoy life. First, the tongue must be controlled so that he speaks no evil or deceitful words. His words must be pleasing to God, truthful, and free from trickery and misleading. Second, he must do what is right and not evil. He must run away from evil deeds. Instead his actions must be pleasing to God. Third, he must diligently desire peace. He must actively seek to live in harmony with others in a right relationship with God.

Lord Jesus, no matter the outward circumstances I face, help me to live in a way that pleases You. Let my words, actions, and desires bring You honor and glory.
