“For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame."”
   1 Peter 2:6 NIV ©

Peter quotes from the Old Testament prophecy found in Isaiah 28:16. This text states that God would provide the cornerstone for our faith. A cornerstone was the foundation stone for a building that gave it both load-bearing strength and straight angles for the walls. This spiritual cornerstone would be laid in Zion, that is in Jerusalem. It was in Jerusalem on Calvary’s hill that Jesus gave His life as a sacrifice for our sins. Those who completely trust in Him for salvation will never be disappointed or regret their commitment to Him.

Lord Jesus, You are my precious Savior and the foundation for my life. I place my faith, my total commitment, in You to provide my salvation and to give purpose and meaning to my life.
