“And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men, but is choice and precious in the sight of God.” 1 Peter 2:4 NASB

Peter exhorts his readers to continue to come to the Lord Jesus. They have believed in Jesus and must continue to follow Him as Lord. He emphatically declares that Jesus is the “living stone.” This metaphor, which Peter also used in Acts 4 to refer to Jesus, alludes to passages in the Old Testament and to Jesus’ own words in Matthew 21. Though rejected by men and thus crucified, God honored Jesus and raised Him from the dead to rule and reign over all mankind. What man considered worthless, God considered infinitely valuable and highly exalted Him, making this precious living stone the foundation for the salvation of man.

Lord Jesus, You are my precious Savior and Lord and the foundation of my life. Help me to live honoring You with all I do.
