“So that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.” 1 Peter 2:2b-3 NIV

Peter is urging his readers to not remain spiritual babies, but instead to grow up, to become mature in their faith. When these readers trusted Jesus as their Savior, they tasted and experienced God’s grace, His kindness and goodness. It is not enough to have a small taste of the Lord’s goodness. Peter urges the believers to continue drinking from the milk of God’s Word, to be filled and nourished by it, to constantly desire for more of Christ and His Word. The hymn writer, Eliza Hewitt, captured this idea stating, “More about Jesus would I know. More of His grace to others show. More of His saving fullness see. More of His love who died for me. More, more about Jesus.”

Lord Jesus, I am amazed at Your goodness and grace. Fill my life with more of Your Word so I may continue to grow up in You.
