“And into an inheritance that is imperishable, uncorrupted, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.”

The word inheritance means the property one receives as an heir. To the Jews, their inheritance was and is the Promise Land. In the Old Testament, each Jewish tribe and then each family, received property in the Promise Land. For the believer, the Promise Land, our inheritance, is Heaven. Peter describes this inheritance by three terms that show its permanent and eternal nature. Imperishable means it will not decay, spoil, or disappear. Uncorrupted means it is totally pure and unstained by evil. Unfading means it will not wither, or lose its glory. The believer’s inheritance in Heaven will last forever because the eternal, all-powerful, Holy God keeps, reserves, and guards it.
Lord God, I am thankful that no matter what happens here on earth, I have a glorious inheritance in Heaven because Jesus has saved my soul.
