“For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers.”

Humans have tried for generations and generations to find ways to satisfy their purpose for living and their need for God. They have consistently found these attempts to be empty, futile, and without any true peace and satisfaction. While silver and gold were used to ransom a slave thus buying his freedom, all such human attempts to buy or obtain spiritual redemption failed miserably. This old way of living, which condemns all people into bondage to sin, was a life without hope and without a personal relationship with God.
Lord Jesus, I know there is nothing I can do to pay for the redemption of my soul. I am thankful that You have paid the ransom for me by Your sacrifice on Calvary’s cross.
