“It is written.” Three simple yet powerful words. The Scripture is written so that we can know God and live according to His principles. The Bible is to be studied and obeyed. For Peter and all believers, the Bible must be the final authority for how we live our lives. Peter’s quote from the Old Testament demands that believers in God pattern their character after that of God. God’s character is holy – morally pure and set apart from all sin, evil, and ungodliness. Thus the believer’s character must also be holy and this holiness evident in his lifestyle.
Lord Jesus, help me to learn and obey Your written Word, the Holy Bible. Let my life and actions today be characterized by holiness so that I can reflect Your character and bring glory to You.
