“It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.”
1 Peter 1:12
NIV

God showed the Old Testament prophets that the predictions given to them by the Holy Spirit were for future generations. These prophecies had since been fulfilled by the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This good news, the gospel, was being preached to those to whom Peter was writing. These gospel preachers were being guided and taught by the same Holy Spirit. The prophets and even the angels desired to understand what the believers now knew about salvation by God’s grace.
Lord Jesus, help me to graze deep into Your Word. Arouse my curiosity and strengthen my desire to learn more about You and Your redeeming mercy and grace.
