“Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15 NASB

The “world” refers to the evil, worldly culture that is in opposition to God and His ways, not to the earth nor to the people of the world. The evil world, with all its momentary pleasures, materialism, selfishness, and sin, is hostile toward God and His people. Evil is at war against God, trying to entice believers to defect from a godly lifestyle to one of rebellion against God. The believer cannot love God with all his heart, soul, mind, and body and love the world also.

Lord Jesus, I choose to love You and Your ways. Teach me how to live in a way that pleases You!
