“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1:9 HCSB ©

Confess means to say the same thing or to agree. We are to agree with God that all our sins are wrong. We do not deny or conceal any sin, but we confess and turn from our sins and obey God. Forgiveness means to remove the guilt as in a debt that is fully paid. Cleanse means to purify and be made whole again. God will forgive and cleanse us because of His character. He is faithful and will do as He promised in His Word. He is righteous and just because the penalty for the believer’s sin was paid by Jesus’ blood shed on Calvary’s cross.

Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner who has been forgiven and cleansed by Your precious blood. Reveal to me when I am wrong, and I will confess and be restored to a right fellowship with You.
