“Now, therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, "I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, to be leader over My people Israel.” 1 Chronicles 17:7 NASB

Though David was the king of Israel, God calls him “My servant.” God reminded David that it was God who took this shepherd boy out of the pasture and guided him to become the leader of God’s people, Israel. God reminded him of his humble beginnings and that he was still a servant. David was not an autocratic ruler but a servant leader who was to shepherd God’s people as God’s servant. It is God who is the Lord, not just of Israel, but of all the heavenly hosts. He is the Almighty God.

Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I am simply Your humble servant. Guide me to act obediently this day to bring You glory and honor.
