Why do we celebrate this holiday?
What is St. Patrick's Day really all about?

Saint Patrick was the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland who
is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland.
- Patrick was born in England in 389 A.D.
- At the age of 16, he was captured by Irish pirates and sold as a slave in Ireland.
- After 6 years, he had a dream where he heard a "voice" urging him to escape. He did and went back to England.
- 20 years later, he again heard the "Voice of God" from a dream, that said go back to Ireland.
- For 30 years, he preached the gospel of Jesus Christ all across Ireland.
- He established more than 300 churches and converting over 120 thousand people to faith in Jesus.
- He found Ireland totally pagen and left it resoundly Christian.
- His life theme verse was Philippians 1:21. "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain."
- Saint Patrick described himself as a "most humble-minded man, pouring forth a continuous praise of thanks to his Maker for having chosen him as the instrument whereby multitudes who had worshipped idols and unclean things had become the people of God."
- It is Patrick who is said to have encountered the druids at Tara and abolished their pagan rites. The story holds that he converted the warrior chiefs and princes, baptizing them and thousands of their subjects.
- There are several accounts of Saint Patrick's death. One says that Patrick died in Ireland, on March 17, 460 A.D.

Saint Patrick's Day has come to be associated with everything Irish: anything green and gold, shamrocks and luck.
- Most importantly, to those who celebrate its intended meaning,
St. Patrick's Day is a traditional day for spiritual renewal and offering prayers for missionaries worldwide.
What is Christmas really all about?
Time off from work?
Parties?
Gifts?
Friends?
Family?
As we celebrate Christmas, it does mean these, but it also means to worship the Christ.
- The word "Christmas" comes from two words: "Christ" and "mass."
"Christ" means the Messiah, the anointed one, one who is consecrated for a great redemptive work.
"Mass" means a feast, a celebration, a worship service.
- Therefore, "Christmas" is the worship celebration for the coming of Jesus Christ, the Redeemer of mankind.
- The reason Jesus came to earth was to save us from our sins.
"And she will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins." Matthew 1:21
The Bible Says ...
- God Loves You
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16
- But You Are A Sinner
"For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
- Sin Brings Death, But ...
"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23
- Jesus Christ Died For You
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

- You Must Trust in Jesus as Your Savior and Lord
"If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation." Romans 10:9-10
- Will You Call to Him in Prayer?
"For whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13
- What to Pray:
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins and rose again to bring eternal life. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust You as Savior and follow You as Lord, in the fellowship of Your church. Amen.
Need more help in coming to know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior?
- Now What!
Billy Graham says, "This is just the beginning of a wonderful new life in Christ. To deepen this relationship you should:
-- 1. Read your Bible every day to get to know Jesus Christ better.
-- 2. Talk to God in prayer every day.
-- 3. Tell others about Jesus Christ.
-- 4. Worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a church where Christ is preached.
-- 5. As Christ's representative in a needy world, demonstrate your new life by your love and concern for others.
God bless you as you do."
